Environmental Factors
Autism Angels Network
Environment (noun): The circumstances, objects,
or conditions by which one is surrounded.
Toxins play a significant role in autism and other
disorders, and we are bombarded by them. For an
autistic child, the following toxic contributors can be an
overwhelming burden to their already compromised
immune system.
- AIR POLLUTION
- AMALGAMS
- ANTIBIOTICS
- CHEMICALS IN FOOD
- HEAVY METALS
- PESTICIDES
- VACCINATIONS
Each toxin is discussed briefly below:
"It's a toxicity issue.
That's it. It's not a
hard thing. It's not a
complicated thing."
~ Dr. Rashid Buttar,
when speaking about
autism.
Silver fillings used in
dental work are called
amalgams. Amalgams
are 50% mercury. Off-
gassing causes the
mercury to end up in the
blood stream and is
stored in the body. It
can then be passed to a
child during pregnancy.
Amalgams should be
removed as a
precautionary step, at
least a year prior to
pregnancy.
Air pollution is a
source of mercury and
other toxins. A recent
study conducted by the
California Department
of Health Services
showed a 50% increase
in autism in areas that
had high levels of
chlorinated solvents
and heavy metals;
mainly mercury,
cadmium, nickel,
trichloroethylene and
vinyl chloride.
Although sometimes
necessary,
antiobiotics kill off the
healthy bacteria in the
immune system, and
often cause recurrent
ear infections. Children
with autism tend to get
frequent ear infections,
and the use of
antibiotics creates a
vicious cycle. Ear
infections can and
should be treated
without antibiotics.
There are over 14,000
man-made chemicals
added to our American
food supply. Fast food
has almost no nutritional
value, and is full of
chemicals designed to
enhance flavor and
become addictive to the
consumer. Chemicals
are also used so that
the food can be
produced cheaply and
quickly for profit.
According to The
Washington Post,
“almost half of tested
samples of commercial
high-fructose corn syrup
contained mercury,
which was also found in
nearly a third of 55
popular brand-name
food and beverage
products where HFCS is
the first- or second-
highest labeled
ingredient.”
Pesticides include
herbicides, fungicides,
and other substances.
Not only used for crop
spraying, pesticides are
used in bug sprays,
insect repellent, rat
poison, flea and tick
sprays, and weed killers.
They are in household
disinfectants and
sanitizers and products
that kill mold and mildew.
Pesticides are extremely
harmful to people, pets,
and the environment.
The list of recommended
vaccinations is growing
at an alarming rate, and
so are neurological
disorders. In 1983, the
CDC's mandatory list of
vaccinations consisted of
10 vaccines. In 2008, it
consisted 36. The first
vaccinations are given
within an hour of birth.
As a parent, you have
the right to choose which
vaccinations your child
will receive, and when.
Each generation will reap what the former generation has sown.
